The Joe Issue

Letter from the Editor

Another month goes by without the winter that we have been expecting.  Makes you wonder if “The Day After Tomorrow,” is truly around the corner.  But then, heavy thinking is not one of my strong points these days.  Teaching has a tendency to do that to even the best of us.

This issue we want to focus on Joe.  He seems like a nice guy and there is a Joe for every occasion.  If you need relaxation from a hard days work or you need release from a sure thing that ended up as a cold shower, there is a Joe for you.  We have an article about the Taiwan beer factory.  Not only do they make beer, but you can go there and have a day of drinking that is really cheap.  We also researched about the Taiwan wine industry.  Not too many people know, but Taiwan does have a growing wine industry that is trying to find its feet in the world market.

This issue also has an article about Salsa dancing.  Salsa is growing in popularity in Taichung and there are new teachers popping up everyday offering their services.  And the Joe issue can not be complete without some mention of Alcoholics Anonymous.  We know that it is a serious problem for some in Taichung and we want to give them information that might help them out.

On April 21 there is the Second Annual Soho Street Chili Cookoff.  We are raising money for the American Chamber of Commerce Kidz Day Fund.  Head over to Soho Street and try all the Chilis and help raise money for the orphans.  And if you like to make Chili, please enter your Chili with the chance of winning a prize.  Contact PJ’s Café or FuBar for more info.

If you have any questions or comments please email us at editor@thetaichungvoice.com.  We are looking for people to send us pictures for the picture page.  If we publish your picture, Our House Café has donated a Voice Breakfast to everyone whose picture that we publish.

See you at the Chili Cookoff.

Coming Soon

Next month we are dedicating to the Alternative lifestyle.  We know that there are a lot of people in Taiwan that don’t fit the conservative norm.  With this issue we hope to give them a voice and let them speak to the Taichung community.

In June is the Health Issue.  Taiwan is ripe with medicine, but not everyone knows what they do or when you should use them.  With this issue we hope to give you the lowdown on the type of medical treatments that you can receive in Taiwan and give you a leg up when deciding what you need to do when you get sick.

In July we have Planes, Trains, Automobiles, and Ships.  We seem to keep pushing this issue back.  But don’t worry we will explain the why of Taiwan traffic, even if they don’t understand it.

If there is any issue that you would like to see, please email us editor@thetaichungvoice.com.  We are always looking for suggestions, complaints, or comments.

See ya next month..
