Taiwanese finger-guessing game (hua-quan) Fingers are useful. Apart from holding your glass, they can be used for drinking games. Here are three:
Finger guessing 1: At the same time, two or more players put out none, one or two fingers. They take it in turn to say how many fingers TOTAL there will be. If you guess right (ie. From none to four with two players) you win and the other person drinks. If wrong, you keep taking turns until someone wins, hopefully at increasing speed.
Finger guessing 2: At the same time, two players put out from one to five fingers. Scoring is as follows: Two beats one, three beats two, four beats three, five beats four and one beats five. This last one is important because it ‘completes’ the circle of power. Keep shooting fingers until you get to a winning situation. Example: 3 vs. 1 (no one wins, shoot again); 4 vs. 3 (4 wins) The loser drinks.
Paper, scissors, rock
Played as we know it but with a modification. The winner must immediately point the index finger of his or her hand either up, down, left or right at the same time looking in another direction from that which is pointed. If the second player (who lost the paper scissors rock part) looks in the same direction as has been pointed, they lose and drink.
This second phase is often tagged on to other drinking games so there could be a cascade of actions following each other. This makes it harder to lose, but also harder to win outright.
Three-Man:
Three-man is a great drinking game if you are looking to go through a lot of alcohol in a short period of time. The rules of Three-man is simple:
1. Everyone gets in a circle, around a table or just on the floor.
2. One person at random is nominated as three-man.
3. The first person roles two dice. If s/he rolls a:
a. 7 the person to the left takes a drink
b. 11 person to the right takes a drink
c. 9 social (everyone takes a drink)
d. 3 three-man takes a drink
e. 2 and 1(three-man the hard way) you give the dice to the three-man,
s/he rolls and drinks the amount that s/he rolled.
f. Doubles, give the dice to anyone, or split them up,
and they roll and drink the amount that they rolled.
4. When the roller doesn’t make a person drink, then s/he passes the dice to the next person.
5. If on any of her/his rolls the three-man rolls a 3, then s/he passes the job of three-man to a person of her/his choice.
Pyramid:
Pyramid is game that revolves around lying and bluffing. All you need is a deck of cards and some alcohol. Like three-man, pyramid is a great game to drink a lot of alcohol in a short amount of time. The rules of pyramid goes as follows:
1. Make a pyramid with the cards (face down) with one card on top of the pyramid and six cards on the bottom.
2. After the pyramid is set up, deal out the rest of the cards to the players.
3. When everyone has his or her cards, turn over the first card on the bottom level.
a. This level is worth one drink. The second level is worth two drinks and so forth.
b. If you have the card, you can make someone take a drink.
c. If you don’t have the card you can still order someone to drink.
i. If the person that you order to drink doesn’t believe you, then s/he can call your bluff.
ii. If you have the card, show it and the person drinks twice the amount. If you don’t have the card, then you drink twice the amount.
4. When you finish the top level (which is six drinks) then collect the cards and start all over again.
